Artist Statement
For as long as I can remember, I have been fascinated with the way that humans interact with each other. The paths people take, the bonds they share, the friendships they form, and the loyalty that individual's have to one another has made me become observant to the invisible links that hold people together.
As an empathetic person, nothing is more important to me than the ability to relate on a personal level with another human being. The ability to give a stranger a passing smile or genuinely ask someone a question and listen is something that is uniquely human. We, as feeling, thinking people, have the ability to connect deeply to the souls around us. We are able to choose our own paths and make decisions based on what will bring us the most joy.
With this thought in mind, I do not design for myself; I design as a reflection of my audience. Drawing inspiration from artists like Melanie DaVeid and Gareth Strange, and agencies like Cast Iron Design and Bert, I observe, iterate, and create solutions to improve an individual's experience with a product. I aim to form logical pathways through a website, similar to the pathways that people take in their own lives. We live in a large world, and in the grand scheme of things, our time here is short. That time should not be spend navigating through inefficient websites and wasting precious moments spent in frustration over non-functional content.
My purpose in my design work is to make calculated, minimalistic designs that serves a purpose or solves a problem. I use my background in art and psychology to create an enjoyable online presence, while also using my empathetic nature to assist in solving user's pain points.
